Jarell Oshodi is a licensed attorney, Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) with more than 13 years of experience helping a range of government agencies in privacy and data governance roles. She has worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Justice, and currently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the Deputy Chief Privacy Officer.
Beyond her government service, Jarell is also the Privacy Curriculum Director and board member of the non-profit organization, Black Girls in Cyber, dedicated to empowering women in cybersecurity and privacy through certifications and job opportunities. She provides keynote speaking, privacy awareness workshops, and on-demand e-learning training modules for organizations of all sizes. She has been named in the “100 Women in Cyber Project”, “Four Leading Women in Privacy” by GRC World Forums, and “Black Privacy Stars.” Her expertise has extended to influential roles as a thought leader for AfroTech, Digital Guardian, SecureWorld, Top Cybersecurity Magazine, and several other esteemed organizations.
Jarell's innovative approach is exemplified through her development of the proprietary privacy framework known as MIND URS®, designed to instill data privacy best practices within organizations. Her training sessions and workshops play a pivotal role in aiding companies to fortify privacy compliance, cultivate trust, and gain a competitive edge. Her e-learning modules have contributed to the development of thousands of privacy champions worldwide. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Hampton University where she graduated magna cum laude and was honored as a 40 under 40 alumna. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from Mercer University. She is a proud New Orleans native living right outside Atlanta with her husband and 2 boys.
